The Tide is High.
Recent years have seen a revival in the popularity of ska, with both Lily Alan and the late Amy Winehouse albums covering classic ska songs and bands such as Madness, The Specials, The Skatalites and The Selector have reformed to tour due to popular demand. Last Train to Skaville combines all the hits from the original Jamaican ska of the 60’s to the 2 Tone rebirth of ska from the 70’s and 80’s including the music of: The Skatalites, Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff, The Paragons, The Upsetters, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Toots and the Maytals, Johnny Nash, Prince Buster, Madness, The Specials, The Selecter, The Beat and Bad Manners.

Wonderful World, Beautiful People.
The fantastic 9-piece line-up includes 3 singers, whose combined vocals create beautiful harmonies mirroring such as The Paragons and Maytals. Sam Thornton’s full, rich voice is the perfect instrument for recreating the big sound of Toots Hibbard and Desmond Dekker, while Melody Reed’s soul-rooted stylings bring to life once again the classic Jamaican sounds! Just like The Skatalites back in 1963, the musicians in the band have their roots in Jazz and are at very much at home locking in a skanking groove and also displaying their musical virtuosity.

Lip Up Fatty.
Last Train to Skaville is more than just a collection of songs. We’ll introduce you to some of the stories behind the music and also provide more than a drop of humour along the way!

One Step Beyond.
Audience participation has helped to make the show what it is, whether it’s the whole audience singing along to “Monkey Man” or joining in the dancing as we depart our custom designed set and head out into the crowd.
